* REBELLION.GLOBAL – This organization was founded to take direct action on climate change.
Extinction Rebellion is an international movement that uses non-violent civil disobedience in an attempt to stop climate change, halt mass extinction and minimize the risk of social collapse. Since its founding, it has held or sponsored hundreds of protests worldwide involving millions of people concerned that our collective governments are not doing nearly enough to confront the enormous threats that climate change poses to humanity
* FRIDAYSFORFUTURE.ORG – Founded by youth climate activist Greta Thunberg.
Fridays For Future is the website for Global Climate Strike, Strike 4 Future, School Strike for Climate, and the global initiative to gather people, young and old, to strike for immediate and comprehensive action on climate change. Growing quickly to over 11 million participants in over 180 countries worldwide, this is perhaps the central and pivotal site for direct climate change action.
* 350.ORG – This organization was founded by renowned environmentalist and writer, Bill McKibben.
350.org is an international movement of ordinary people working to end the age of fossil fuels and build a world of community-led renewable energy for all. Their vision is that the climate crisis is immense – and that we must be daring and courageous in response. We should embrace new experiments and solutions, recognizing that this crisis requires new ways of solving these enormous problems.
* THIRD ACT.ORG – This new organization was also founded by environmental activist Bill McKibben.
Third Act is a brand new organization aimed at involving seniors in three major issues: climate change, race/civil rights, and voting/democracy. The goal of this organization is to create an environment that will help build movements for all three of these issues that are strong enough to make a real difference.
* CLIMATEREALITYPROJECT.ORG – Founded by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore.
The Climate Reality Project is a combination of two former organizations, both founded by Al Gore: The Alliance for Climate Protection and the Climate Project. The project’s goal is to counter climate change denial with the truths about the climate crisis. Its focus is on education initiatives related to climate change as well as continuing efforts to develop a grassroots network to address climate change. * USCLIMATENETWORK.ORG – The U.S. branch of the global Climate Action Network.
The Climate Action Network is a coalition of over 1500 international organizations that are dedicated to taking action to stop climate change. The United States branch of this network has over 175 member organizations that represent the wide range of national, regional, and local organizations that are taking action to halt global warming. * THECLIMATEMOBILIZATION.ORG – Climate Mobilization advocates very large-scale mobilization.
Climate Mobilization works to initiate a WWII-scale mobilization to reverse global warming and the mass extinction of species in order to protect humanity and the natural world from climate catastrophe. They develop and launch policy frameworks, messaging, and organizing approaches to accelerate the global transition into “Emergency Mode” to address the climate emergency.
* SUNRISEPROJECT.ORG – The Sunrise Project is a global network working to drive the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy.
The Sunrise Project works to increase the capacity of social movements to shift the finance sector, change public narratives and shift the politics of climate change in order to strengthen laws and regulations, while at the same time driving immediate interventions in the real economy to hasten the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy.
* ELDERSCLIMATEACTION.ORG – Elders Climate Action is a project of Elders Action Network.
Elders Climate Action‘s mission is to mobilize elders throughout the United States to address climate change and push for strong policy solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while there is still time to protect the well-being of our grandchildren and future generations.
