ACTION SPREADING THE WORD

It is critically important that those citizens who understand the extreme nature of the climate emergency help inform their friends and family of the importance of this issue and the need to stop the use of fossil fuels in all areas of human activity. You yourself are deeply concerned about the dangers of the climate crisis and many of the people around you would love to hear about your concerns. A large majority of Americans believe that climate change is a very serious problem, but many of those do not fully understand the science or reasoning behind why the climate is changing. There is a lot of misinformation out there, much of it promulgated by decades-long efforts by the fossil fuel industry to confuse the issues in the minds of the public. Clear, straight-forward presentation of the facts about why fossil fuel use is changing our climate is the best way to counteract this misinformation. Once people understand the seriousness of the issue of climate change, they are much more willing to make changes in their own personal habits and to vote for politicians that are willing to take action to confront the many challenges that are ahead for us in eliminating the use of fossil fuels. Here are some ideas to help you communicate the urgency of climate change to others:

* CARBON FOOTPRINT: One excellent way to help yourself and others to understand the pervasive penetration of fossil fuels into our lives is to calculate your own “carbon footprint.” This is a calculation of how much carbon [or carbon dioxide] each of us is responsible for adding to the global toll. There are numerous websites designed to make this task easier. Here of some of the best [click on the blue type to access the websites]:
